About acQuire Technology Solutions
acQuire Technology Solutions was founded in 1996 in Perth by co-founder Bill Withers, who recognised that spreadsheets were inadequate for managing complex geoscientific data across the mining value chain. The company developed what became an industry-standard data model for geoscientific information management, now used at approximately 450+ mine sites worldwide. In 2018, acQuire was acquired by Constellation Software through its Vela Software operating group, and operates from five global offices across Australia, Canada, Chile, and South Africa.
Its client base includes Teck, Barrick Gold, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Lundin Mining, and Centerra Gold. Since the Constellation acquisition, acQuire has expanded into adjacent data domains through acquisitions of EnviroSys (environmental compliance, 2021) and Insite (social performance management), and in 2025 launched GIM Essentials as a simplified entry-level product.
