Content Policy

Last updated: 25 February 2026

This Content Policy explains what Mining Software Reviews ("MSR", "we", "us") publishes, how we moderate content, what gets removed, and how disputes and takedown requests are handled. This policy applies to all content on miningsoftwarereviews.com ("the Site").

MSR operates as an independent review platform for mining industry software. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any software vendor listed on the Site. Our role is to provide a fair, transparent space where mining professionals can share honest opinions about the tools they use.

1. What We Publish

MSR publishes the following types of content:

  • User-submitted reviews — Ratings across 10 mining-specific dimensions plus written commentary from verified and unverified users
  • Product profiles — Information about mining software products compiled from publicly available sources
  • Vendor profiles — Information about software vendors compiled from publicly available sources, claimable by authorised vendor representatives
  • Category descriptions and taxonomies — Definitions and groupings for 11 mining software categories
  • Vendor responses to reviews — Public replies from vendors who have claimed their profile
  • Aggregated scores and rankings — Mathematically derived from individual review ratings
  • Editorial content — Guides, comparisons, and analysis produced by MSR when applicable

2. How Product & Vendor Profiles Are Created

MSR creates product and vendor profiles using publicly available information, including company websites, press releases, public filings, product documentation, and other publicly accessible sources. Profiles are created to provide comprehensive coverage of the mining software market.

No vendor consent is required for listing on MSR. This is consistent with established review platform practices followed by G2, Capterra, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and similar platforms. Product names and company names are used under nominative fair use for the purposes of identification and commentary.

Listing on MSR does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation between MSR and any vendor. All trademarks, trade names, and logos referenced on the Site are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for identification purposes.

Vendors may:

  • Claim their profile to update factual product and company information and respond to reviews
  • Request corrections to factual errors via our contact form

3. Review Authenticity & Verification

Authentic reviews are the foundation of MSR. We take deliberate steps to ensure the reviews on this platform reflect genuine experiences with mining software.

Quality Checks

Reviews are subject to quality checks before and after publication. These may include:

  • Pattern recognition to flag suspicious submission clusters
  • Linguistic analysis to detect content inconsistencies
  • IP and timing monitoring to identify coordinated campaigns

Identity Verification

Reviewer identity is verified independently by MSR. Vendor verification confirms the reviewer is a genuine customer. During vendor verification, vendors never see review content — they only confirm whether the reviewer is or was a customer.

Publication Standards

  • Both verified and unverified reviews are published, with verification status clearly displayed
  • Incentivised reviews (where the reviewer received any benefit for submitting) are clearly labelled
  • MSR reserves the right to reject reviews that do not meet our quality standards

4. Content We Remove

MSR will remove content that falls into any of the following categories:

  • Fraudulent reviews: Fabricated, paid-for, or vendor-planted reviews, including reviews submitted by vendor employees about their own products
  • Defamatory content: False statements of fact (not opinion) that damage the reputation of a person or company
  • Confidential information: Trade secrets, proprietary data, NDA-protected information, or specific safety incident details that should not be disclosed publicly. Where a reviewer or third party identifies that a review may contain NDA-protected or commercially sensitive information, MSR provides an expedited review process — email hello@miningsoftwarereviews.com with the subject line "Urgent: Confidential Content"
  • Personal attacks: Content targeting individuals by name in a harassing, threatening, or intimidating manner
  • Illegal content: Content that violates applicable law in any relevant jurisdiction
  • Intellectual property violations: Copyrighted material reproduced without permission or lawful basis
  • Spam and advertising: Promotional content disguised as reviews or other unsolicited commercial material
  • Discriminatory content: Content targeting individuals or groups based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics
  • Safety-critical information: Specific production data, ore grades, reserve figures, or other operational details that could compromise site security or commercial confidentiality

5. Content We Do Not Remove

Equally important is what stays up. The following content will not be removed, regardless of vendor requests:

  • Negative reviews expressing genuine dissatisfaction with a product
  • Harsh or critical opinions about a product's quality, pricing, or support
  • Reviews that a vendor disagrees with — disagreement is not grounds for removal
  • Reviews with low star ratings
  • Opinions that may be unflattering to a vendor or their product
  • Reviews from unverified users — these are clearly labelled, not removed
  • Comparative statements between competing products

If you are a vendor and you disagree with a review, the appropriate response is to claim your profile and post a public reply — not to request removal.

6. Reviews as Protected Opinion

User reviews on MSR constitute protected opinion and commentary. Reviews reflect the subjective experiences and views of individual users. MSR does not adopt, endorse, or verify the accuracy of individual review claims.

MSR serves as a neutral platform facilitating the exchange of genuine user experiences. To the extent permitted by law across all applicable jurisdictions, reviews are protected under doctrines including fair comment, honest opinion, qualified privilege, and similar protections for the expression of genuine opinion.

MSR will vigorously defend the right of users to share honest opinions about mining software. We do not remove reviews simply because a vendor threatens legal action. Legal threats directed at reviewers through our platform are themselves a violation of this policy.

7. Vendor Response Policy

Vendors with claimed profiles may post public responses to reviews. This is the appropriate channel for addressing criticism, providing context, or correcting factual inaccuracies in a review.

Vendor responses must adhere to the following standards:

  • Responses must be professional, factual, and constructive
  • Vendors may not threaten legal action against reviewers in their responses
  • Responses must not be retaliatory or attempt to intimidate the reviewer
  • Responses must not include personal information about the reviewer

Responses that violate these standards will be removed. Vendors who repeatedly violate the response policy may have their response privileges suspended.

Vendors may also privately flag reviews for Content Policy violations using the flagging process described in Section 9.

8. Copyright & DMCA Takedown Process

If you believe content on MSR infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice to our designated agent. To be valid, your notice must include:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • Identification of the content on MSR that you claim is infringing, with sufficient detail for us to locate it
  • Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, email)
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Designated Agent

Send takedown notices to: hello@miningsoftwarereviews.com

Counter-Notification

If your content was removed and you believe the removal was in error, you may submit a counter-notification. Your counter-notification must include identification of the removed content, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the content was removed by mistake, your contact information, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the relevant court.

MSR will process valid takedown notices and counter-notifications promptly and in accordance with applicable law.

9. Flagging & Review Process

Any user can flag content for potential policy violations. Vendors can flag reviews through their claimed profile dashboard.

All flags must include a specific reason referencing this Content Policy. Flags without a clear policy basis will not be actioned.

How the process works:

  • MSR reviews all flags internally — flagging does not guarantee removal
  • MSR does not act as a fact-finder in disputes between vendors and reviewers
  • Decisions are made by MSR staff based solely on this Content Policy
  • Flaggers are notified of the outcome once a decision has been made
  • Repeated abuse of the flagging process (e.g., flagging every negative review) may result in restrictions on the flagger's account

10. Aggregated Scores & Rankings

Transparency in how scores and rankings are calculated is non-negotiable. Here is how it works:

  • Product scores are mathematical aggregates of individual review ratings
  • Scores are calculated across 10 mining-specific dimensions: Ease of Use, Implementation & Onboarding, Customer Support, Value for Money, Reliability, Integration, Reporting, Training & Documentation, Suitability for Purpose, and Mobile / Field Usability
  • Rankings are based on aggregated scores — not vendor payments
  • Products with more reviews may receive higher visibility in listings
  • No vendor can pay for higher rankings, preferential placement, or score manipulation
  • MSR may apply minimum review thresholds before displaying aggregate scores

Aggregated scores represent a mathematical summary of user opinions and are not independent assessments or statements of fact by MSR. MSR does not verify the accuracy of individual review claims that contribute to aggregated scores.

If we ever introduce paid features for vendors (such as enhanced profiles or analytics), those features will never influence scores, rankings, or review visibility.

11. Content Accuracy & Corrections

MSR strives for accuracy in all product and vendor profile information. If you identify a factual error — incorrect pricing, wrong feature list, outdated company information, or similar — please contact us and we will investigate promptly.

Corrections to factual information on product and vendor profiles are processed as quickly as possible. However, reviews are not edited for factual accuracy — they represent user opinions and experiences, not verified statements of fact. MSR does not verify individual claims made within reviews.

12. Data Retention & Content Lifecycle

  • Published reviews remain on the platform indefinitely unless they violate this policy
  • Content removed for policy violations is retained internally for compliance and audit purposes
  • Users may request deletion of their own reviews, subject to applicable data retention requirements
  • Vendor profiles remain active as long as the product or company exists in the market
  • Deactivated or discontinued products are archived, not deleted — historical reviews remain accessible

For information about personal data retention, see our Privacy Policy.

13. Multi-Jurisdictional Compliance

MSR operates from Australia and serves mining professionals globally. Content moderation applies the standards of this policy uniformly, regardless of the jurisdiction of the user or vendor.

Where local law requires specific action — including obligations under the EU Digital Services Act, the UK Online Safety Act, Australian eSafety Commissioner requirements, or other applicable regulations — MSR will comply with those requirements.

Legal removal requests from courts or regulatory bodies are processed in accordance with applicable law. Government and regulatory takedown requests are tracked and may be disclosed in periodic transparency reports.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Content Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
