Maptek Evolution is a distinct product from Vulcan, focused specifically on mine scheduling and optimisation. It produces short-, medium-, long-term, and strategic life-of-mine schedules alongside production plans. Evolution maximises deposit value using cut-off grade optimisation and is delivered as Software-as-a-Service via a secure hybrid cloud system.

The product comprises several modules: Evolution Strategy (strategic planning and cut-off grade optimisation for scenario analysis), Evolution Origin (detailed scheduling from life-of-mine to short-term horizons, integrated with Vulcan), Evolution Epoch (short-term planning for managing activities, tasks, equipment, and dependencies), and Evolution Phase (tools for manipulating optimal shells from pit optimisation). Evolution handles complex multi-mine, multi-process scheduling. Vulcan handles design; Evolution handles scheduling — they integrate but are sold and licensed separately.
