About Maptek
Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Adelaide, Maptek is an independent, privately held Australian technology company. It is one of the last major mining software vendors not acquired by an equipment manufacturer or conglomerate. Its products are used at more than 20,000 users at over 2,500 mines in 80 countries. The product portfolio spans geological modelling, mine design, mine scheduling, laser scanning/survey (PointStudio), drill and blast (BlastLogic), fleet management, and safety monitoring.
Maptek was originally operating as K. Robert Johnson and Associates before rebranding in 1992. Industry analysts have noted Maptek, along with RPMGlobal (now acquired by Caterpillar), as a remaining independent acquisition target in the mining software sector.

Sorted alphabeticallyBlastLogic
by Maptek
BlastLogic is Maptek's enterprise-level drill and blast software for surface mining operations. It provides a centralised, single-source repository for all operational blast data, linking blast designs directly with geological and geotechnical data, mine plans, and field measurements. The system supports the full D&B workflow including drill pattern management, charge design with multi-zone energy factor control, tie-up and initiation design, and comprehensive post-blast analysis and reconciliation.
DomainMCF
by Maptek
DomainMCF (Maptek Compute Framework) is a cloud-based machine learning tool for geological domain modelling, launched in 2021. It represents a fundamentally different approach: geologists feed in drillhole or sampling data, and DomainMCF uses ML to generate domain boundaries and grade models in minutes rather than the days or weeks traditional methods require. Processing runs on Maptek's Compute Framework cloud infrastructure.
GeologyCore
by Maptek
GeologyCore (also referred to as Vulcan GeologyCore) is Maptek's dedicated geological modelling environment, released in 2021. It provides a workflow-based interface guiding geologists through six key steps: loading and validating data, defining geological domains, and generating, validating, and publishing models. It supports multiple modelling techniques — machine learning, traditional vein modelling, stratigraphic modelling, and implicit modelling — within a single, streamlined interface.
Maptek Evolution
by Maptek
Maptek Evolution is a distinct product from Vulcan, focused specifically on mine scheduling and optimisation. It produces short-, medium-, long-term, and strategic life-of-mine schedules alongside production plans. Evolution maximises deposit value using cut-off grade optimisation and is delivered as Software-as-a-Service via a secure hybrid cloud system.
Maptek Vulcan
by Maptek
Maptek Vulcan is Maptek's flagship mine planning software, transforming raw mining data into 3D models, mine designs, and operating plans. It serves geologists, surveyors, mine engineers, and geotechnical engineers with tools for modelling, design, and reporting. Vulcan is modular, with specialised add-ons for Geology and Estimation (resource modelling), Open Pit Design (pit design and drill and blast), Underground Mine Design (level layout, stope optimisation), Stope Optimiser, and Drillhole Optimiser.
Vulcan
by Maptek
Vulcan is Maptek's flagship product and one of the most widely used mining software platforms globally, with a heritage dating to the early 1980s as the world's first true 3D mining software. It provides a comprehensive 3D visualization environment for managing, validating, and transforming geological data into geological models, mine designs, and operational plans across open pit and underground operations.
