Eagle Industrial

A ruggedised in-cab drowsiness detection system comprising Optalert's specialised glasses (wired or wireless) paired with a rugged Android tablet. The system provides continuous real-time JDS drowsiness scores displayed in-cab with audio and visual alerts at medium and high risk levels. Data transmits via 3G or Wi-Fi to the cloud-based IRIS dashboard for remote fleet monitoring by supervisors. Designed for extreme mining conditions with an operating range of -21°C to 60°C.

Unlike camera-based systems, Optalert's glasses-based approach is not affected by lighting conditions, dust, PPE, or facial hair — factors that commonly degrade the performance of camera-based operator monitoring in underground and open-cut mining environments. The glasses measure eyelid blink velocity at 500 frames per second using infrared LEDs, generating objective JDS scores rather than inferring drowsiness from facial cues.

Deployed by Vale at large Brazilian iron ore operations and by BHP across multiple mine sites. Eagle Industrial is suited to high-value, consequence-critical vehicle operations — haul trucks, wheel loaders, excavators — where a microsleep event can be catastrophic.
