Orica is one of the world's largest providers of commercial explosives and blasting systems, serving mining, quarrying, oil and gas, and construction markets across more than 100 countries. Founded in 1874 during the Victorian gold rush era, the company has evolved from a regional explosives supplier into a global mining and infrastructure solutions provider. Its digital division, Orica Digital Solutions, now represents approximately 15% of total revenue (~US$200M annually) and has invested heavily in software and hardware technologies spanning the entire drill-and-blast value chain.

Orica's digital platform has been built through organic development and strategic acquisitions including Axis Mining Technology (2022) and Terra Insights (2024). The company's integrated ecosystem connects blast design, automated loading, wireless initiation (WebGen), fragmentation measurement, and cloud-based analytics. A partnership with Epiroc on the Avatel semi-autonomous loading system further extends its technology positioning.
