About DataShed5

DataShed5 is a web-based geological data management system built for the mining and exploration industries. Hosted on AWS, it provides centralised storage, validation, import, and management of geoscientific data including drillhole collars, assay results, downhole surveys, pXRF readings, hyperspectral data, and daily drilling reports (PLODs). The system is offered in three access tiers — Administrator, User Plus, and User — with configurable permissions and granular access controls.

Key capabilities include automated file loading (checking for new files every 15 minutes and importing without manual intervention), an assay management module with QC rules for accepting or rejecting batches, integrated QAQC reporting via Power BI (branded as QAQCR), customisable paginated reports and dashboards, and a striplog visualisation tool. DataShed5 supports one-click exports to major modelling packages and integrates with maxgeo's LogChief field data capture tools.

DataShed5 represents a significant architectural evolution from its predecessor, moving from an Access-based architecture to a modern web-based platform with maps, modules, dashboards, and automation. A partnership with Evident (formerly Olympus) integrates Vanta pXRF analyser data directly via automated email workflows, and the system features live connections with Australian and Canadian mines departments for downloading tenure data.
