MiningMath
Single-step open-pit mine plan optimisation delivering mathematically superior mine plans.
About MiningMath
Founded in 2010 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil by operational research specialist Alexandre Marinho, MiningMath developed its software from 2013 and launched commercially in 2015 (originally named SimSched, rebranded to MiningMath in 2019). The company takes a fundamentally different approach to open-pit mine planning by using a proprietary Branch and Cut algorithm (Mixed Integer Linear Programming) to optimise directly from the block model in a single step.
Despite its small size, MiningMath has attracted tier-1 clients including Vale, Glencore, Rio Tinto, Codelco, Kinross, MMG, Antofagasta, and Capstone. An academic case study on a copper deposit showed NPV improvement from 439 to 519 MUSD (+18%) with significant waste reduction. A free Community tier is available for pit optimisation.
