Soft-Blast / JKTech

JKSimBlast is a blast design and analysis software suite originally developed at the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) at the University of Queensland, one of the world's premier mining research institutions. The software is commercially distributed by Soft-Blast and JKTech (the university's technology commercialisation arm). With over 750 users in 60 countries, JKSimBlast has been a cornerstone tool in the drill and blast industry for decades, particularly valued for mine-to-mill optimisation studies.

JKSimBlast's academic origins give it unique credibility in the market — its algorithms and models are grounded in decades of peer-reviewed research. The software is widely used in production mining, consulting, training, and academic environments. While it lacks the cloud-connected real-time data integration features of newer platforms, it remains a benchmark for blast simulation and analysis fidelity.
