About METSIM
METSIM accurately simulates a wide variety of inorganic chemical, hydrometallurgical, and pyrometallurgical processes with over 200 unit operations. It supports both steady-state and dynamic simulation modes and operates through a modular architecture: Base Module (mass balance, flotation, leaching, SX/EW); Mine Module (import drill-hole data and block models); Comminution Module (crushing, screening, grinding, classification, dense media, coal preparation); Heat Balance Module (pyrometallurgy, thermodynamics); Dynamic Simulation and Heap Leaching Module (time-dependent modeling, PID controllers, heap leaching with chemical reactions and weather modeling); Equilibrium Module (OLI Systems electrolyte integration); Costing Module (OPCOST capital and operating costs); and Engineering Module (equipment sizing, process control simulation, operator training interfaces).
METSIM's breadth — from mine block models through to heap leach and tailings modeling within a single platform — makes it unusually comprehensive. The Mine Module is a notable differentiator, allowing geological data to feed directly into process simulation without data translation steps.
With over 620 users in 54 countries and over four decades of continuous development, METSIM is established across gold, copper, nickel, zinc, uranium, and fertiliser industries. It is used by major engineering consultancies and mining companies for feasibility studies, detailed engineering, and operational optimisation.
