AVEVA Dynamic Simulation (formerly known as DYNSIM) models real-time, time-dependent behaviour of industrial processes using first-principles equipment models with rigorous thermodynamic and fluid flow calculations. It supports engineering validation, control system testing, and operator training by replicating dynamic plant conditions during startup, shutdown, normal, and emergency operations.

In mining, Dynamic Simulation applies to grinding circuits, flotation systems, and other dynamic processing operations where transient behaviour and control system response are critical to plant performance and safety. The tool connects with DCS and PLC control system emulators to create operator training systems (OTS) that allow operators to practice complex scenarios without risk to real plant equipment.

Recent integrations include support for NVIDIA's Raptor reinforcement learning engine, enabling AI-driven autonomous plant control research using the dynamic simulation environment as a testing ground for control strategies before deployment.
