Carlson Geology
Geological modelling package for stratigraphic and block modelling — analyze, model, and manage geologic work within AutoCAD.
About Carlson Geology
Carlson Geology is a module within the Carlson Mining suite providing geological modelling capabilities for both stratigraphic (layered) deposits and hardrock ore bodies. It uses drillhole and sample data to create subsurface models using industry-standard algorithms. Key features include drillhole data entry, cross-sections and fence diagrams, fault modelling, mine reserves calculation, kriging and variograms, block viewing, and optimized pit design. The module runs on AutoCAD and includes IntelliCAD built-in.
In addition to vertical and inclined drillhole data, Carlson Geology incorporates channel samples, outcrops, and other geological data types. Grid and block modelling methods can be used in combination, particularly for layered thick deposits such as limestone or potash.
Carlson Geology is most deeply developed for sedimentary/coal deposits rather than complex metalliferous deposits. It does not match the sophistication of Leapfrog, Vulcan, or Datamine for hard-rock resource estimation requiring advanced geostatistics. Its strength is integration with the broader Carlson Mining suite (Surface Mining, Underground Mining, Natural Regrade for reclamation, BlastOPS) and its affordability as a CAD-based system. Best suited for coal, potash, limestone, and similar deposits.
