WorkForce Software was founded in 1999 and became a leading provider of enterprise-grade workforce management solutions for organisations with complex pay rules, labour regulations, and schedules. ADP (Automatic Data Processing, Inc.) acquired the company in October 2024 for approximately US$1.2 billion. Prior to acquisition, WorkForce Software was backed by Elliott Investment Management and Insight Partners, serving approximately 1,000 large enterprise clients globally with around $254 million in annual revenue. It was named a Leader in the Nucleus Research WFM Value Matrix for eleven consecutive years.

In mining, WorkForce Software actively serves the natural resources sector with clients including Teck Resources (11,000+ employees). The company published a State of the Mining Industry report in partnership with SAP SuccessFactors and Manning & Co. Post-acquisition, the platform operates as an ADP unit but remains available as a standalone solution. Its strength lies in complex scheduling, union rule compliance, and cost allocation — capabilities relevant to large mining enterprises.
