Simio
Object-oriented simulation and digital twin platform for complex operational planning and risk analysis.
About Simio
Simio LLC was founded in 2008 by Dennis Pegden, a pioneer in discrete event simulation who introduced the first commercially available DES product over 50 years ago (SIMAN, later Arena Simulation by Rockwell Automation). Simio represents a fourth-generation simulation architecture built on an object-oriented, data-driven framework enabling rapid modeling without programming. On January 27, 2026, Aegis Software — a portfolio company of Peak Rock Capital — completed its acquisition of Simio.
The software is taught in over 500 universities worldwide. For mining, Simio has developed traction through consulting partnerships, particularly MOSIMTEC (which offers a mining-specific product called MineTwin built on the Simio platform) and Simulation Engineering Technologies / 4Sight Holdings in South Africa.
