Newtrax Technologies was founded in 2009 in Montréal as a university spin-off focused on bringing IoT technology to underground hard rock mines. Sandvik acquired Newtrax in 2019. In September 2021, Sandvik formally integrated the Newtrax offering into the unified OptiMine platform.
