Metso Metrics Monitoring

Metso Metrics is a cloud-based predictive maintenance and asset optimisation platform built on the Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Cloud infrastructure and powered by Microsoft Azure. First launched in 2017 for aggregates and subsequently expanded to mining, it collects data from sensors embedded within Metso equipment — primary gyratory crushers, cone crushers, vibrating screens, and mills — and transmits it to the cloud for analysis.

The platform is available at two service tiers: Level 1 provides online visibility into equipment health, performance dashboards, and automated alerts; Level 2 adds more extensive analytics with active support from Metso Performance Centers staffed by domain experts using advanced data analytics tools. More than 10 mines worldwide use Metrics with over 1,000 connected IIoT devices. Multiple deployments have demonstrated avoidance of hundreds of thousands of dollars in unplanned downtime costs.

Note that Metso Metrics is equipment-specific — it monitors Metso machinery only, not a general-purpose mining analytics platform. This makes it most relevant for operations already running Metso crushers and processing equipment.
